“May I have this dance?” He asked, holding out his hand. He looks so good. The tux he was wearing was beyond hot and his eyes… Gorgeous. The light and the color of his suit complimented them so well, making them shine brighter than the stars themselves.
“You may.” I smirked while taking his hand. I dragged my champagne dress along the dance floor with him, feeling his eyes burn holes in my face. He turned me around, urgent but gentle.
“You’re so beautiful, Brina.” He breathed, gazing from my face, to my dress, to my lips. He kept his stare on my lips for a few more seconds before I kiss him soft, but passionately. “God, I can believe you’re mine.”
“Actually, I can’t believe you’re mine.” I said, avoiding his gaze since I knew his next question.
“Why?” I was right.
“You’re too good for me. I’m so… Me, and that’s not an easy thing to deal with.” I said. He chuckled his beautiful laugh that I love to hear so much, making me smile slightly.
“Brina, I know how you are. You’re so protected and, sometimes, mean. But most of the time, you’re so sweet and caring. You care for other people. You may not let them in but you accept them with open arms, even if society doesn’t.” He explained, making me smile bigger. “One day, I’ll break down your walls. One day.” He said, leaning in and kissing me sweetly, after, resting his chin on my shoulder as I rested my head against his chest.
“Brina… I love you. And I know that you probably don’t feel the same but, you need to know.” He said. I was beyond shocked, speechless. Of course, I don’t love him. But should I tell him? No, I can’t be harsh to someone who’s been so good to me, someone I care about.
I mean, I like him, but love? Ha, how about hell to the no.
“Thank you, Drew.” I said, continuing to sway to the music with the only boy who has ever gotten this close to me…

My eyes opened instantly. It was a dream. Just a dream. But a dream about the past.
That was when Drew and I went to Prom together. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. He literally made me feel like a princess.
That was also the night he told me he loved me. I, of course, didn’t truly believe him. I didn’t love him back, though most girls would have. Drew was perfect. Perfect hair, perfect eyes, perfect personality, just perfection in a boy.
The reason I didn’t believe him, when he told me he loved me, was because I told him. I told him that I would no longer have sex until I was in love. I promised him. So, obviously, the minute he told me he loved me, it was my instinct telling me that he was lying and that he only wanted sex. Which was probably 99.99% true. I mean, why would anyone truly love me?
I’m mean, blunt, stubborn, bipolar, not attractive, protective, and depressed. Yes, you heard it, I’m depressed. Clinically depressed. But don’t worry, it’s not those kind where I want to kill myself. No, people can be depressed and not want to kill themselves, shocker. I don’t like to label myself as depressed, though. I feel like it makes me seem weak and feeble, and I hate that. I hate that pity and that stereotype. I may be a lot of things but weak is something I refuse to be. I refuse for people to see my weakness, my tears. I hate crying in front of people, and I don’t. Except for Lana. And-oh shit, Harry. Damn it. But in my defense, I couldn’t help it. I didn’t cry over Harry, though. No, this wasn’t something in his control or in anyone else’s. I cried over my deadliest fear, those three girls.
Lately, I haven’t had any dreams about them, and it’s been about a week and a half. It’s been nice, not having them in my dreams, not having dreams at all, actually. Well, except for this one. Maybe life will be easy on me now, give me nice dreams, nice memories to relive.
One can only hope…
“Drew?” I heard a husky voice that could only belong to my boyfriend. Harry. Oh lord, did I speak out loud? Oh God no, please no…
“What?” I asked, groggily, pretending I have no utter idea.
“You said, ‘Thank you, Drew’ in your sleep.” Harry said, irritated. He was fully sat up, arms crossed around his chest and his hair looking a right mess. I had to admit, it was hot.
“Oh…” I said, not really knowing what else to say. Should I tell him? What if he gets pissed
and goes all ape shit on me?
“Brina, what’s going on?” He demanded. I wasn’t scared by his intimidating voice, but more annoyed. I hate it when people demand shit from me, it does not go well with me.
I sat up as well, much to my body’s dismay, and looked him in the eye. “I had a dream about Drew.” I said casually. At that moment, his eyes changed into 3 darker shades and
his nostrils flared in anger.
“And?” He said through gritted teeth.
“And that’s it.” I said, returning his glare.
“So you’re telling me you had a sex dream with your ex-boyfriend while your current boyfriend is sleeping in the same bed with you!?” He exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air and standing up from the bed. I looked at him in shock for a minute then burst out laughing at his conclusion.
“A-A sex dream!? HA! Oh my God, that’s precious…” I said between my laughs. I looked up to Harry briefly and he looked confused as ever.
“T-Then what was it…?” He trailed, looking softer now. Aw, poor boy, maybe I should just tell him.
“I had a dream of Drew and I at Prom!” I said, still giggling. I sat up on my knees and came towards him, grabbing his hands and pulling him down back to the bed.
“Why?” He said, a blank expression on his face.
“I dunno. I have weird dreams, you know that.” I said, nudging him to lighten up the mood but he didn’t budge. I guess I can understand. I mean, who actually dreams about one of the best nights with her ex-boyfriend while she’s sleeping in the same bed with her current one? That’s messed up. “Haz, it’s just a dream. Trust me. Drew and I… We have a lot of history. And I mean a lot. And yeah, those memories were great, really great, but now I’m with you. Just you, the past doesn’t matter. A dream is just a dream, nothing special. I promise. I mean, I can’t control them.” I said, trying to ease his tensed shoulders with my words while massaging them with my hands.
“Oh… Well I mean, you were just really happy when you saw him last week.” He said, annoyance and, hurt?, entering his tone.
“Well yeah!” I said incredulously as he looked at me in bewilderment and anger. “I miss him, I haven’t seen him since he moved!” After I said this, Harry just stood there hopeless and hurt, anger tensing his body. “Oh my god, Haz. Drew and I were best friends before we started dating. That’s why I miss him, cause he was my main manhoe!” I said, explaining. Well, I think that’s why I miss him, right? I mean, I have a boyfriend, so I shouldn’t miss
Drew in that way.
“So… What was the dream?” He asked, now facing me ,sitting cross legged, and wrapping his arm around my waist, bringing me close.
“Well, Drew and I were at Prom. And-uh..” I trailed, not really knowing how to phrase my next sentence. Harry looked at me as if he was urging me to go on. “We were-uh, dancing and he told me he loved me for the first time.” I said, searching for his reaction. He tensed a bit.
“Oh wow uhm-what’d you say?” He stammered.
“I said ‘Thank you, Drew…”
“Oh, so that’s what you were saying…” He trailed, looking embarrassed. Well, he should for accusing me of have a mother fucking sex dream. How about no. “So, you didn’t love him?”
He asked hesitantly.
“Nope.” I said, popping my “p” like it was the most casual thing ever. I didn’t love him. I don’t do love.
“Why?” Harry asked.
“I mean, sure, we have a lot of good memories but nothing about it was love. I don’t think love even exists in my life. It doesn’t seem practical.” I confessed.
“Oh… Wait-so, you don’t believe in love? At all?” He asked, bewildered. Probably cause most girls are into the whole falling-in-love shit that just bring them to heartache cause they found out it wasn’t even real, let alone worth it.
“Aw hell no. Love is bullshit. Lust is real, though. That’s what most people think is love, but it’s all a dirty lie. Someone gets hurt in the end.” I shrugged. Harry’s stance was relaxed but his eyes looked… Hurt. I don’t know why, though. Maybe cause he sees too much tragedy
in my words that he’s not used to.
“Oh well, I don’t think that’s true…” He mumbled ever so quietly, as if he didn’t want me to hear. I just decided to drop the subject and not respond, granting his wish in thinking I didn’t hear him.
“So, tell me some memories of you and Drew.” He said, confidently. I was shocked. Why did he want to know this? I mean, wouldn’t he just want to avoid it…? “I want to know. Plus, it seems like you need someone to just listen to these memories instead of keeping them in, that way, you won’t have another damn dream about him but me instead.” He said with edge but ending in a smirk as his sentence came to an end. Oh my, this cheeky, cheeky boy.
“Dayum. Well then, where do you want me to start?” I asked. There’s so many memories, I don’t know how I’ll choose so I guess Harry will just have to ask for specifics.
“Erm… How about how you two met?” Oh great, what a story to tell…
- Flashback To When Brina And Drew Were 11 -
Ugh. Gross. Damn school. Damn preppy bitches. Damn dumbass pink, blonde bitches to judge me. Potty mouth, much? Especially at 11? Yeah, runs in the family. Usually in Urdu (Muslim Pakistani language), but still, you kinda catch on.
Wanna know why I hate school so much? Well, I have 3 friends. 3 really great friends but everyone else, yeah, they freakin’ bug me. It’s because I’m somewhat “emo”. I like to wear the color black, I listen to “emo” music, and my straightened hair covers my eye sometimes. Usually, I run my fingers through my hair and that pushes it back but still.
“Brina! School! Come on, you’ll be late!” My mother yells from downstairs.
“Coming, mama!” I yell back. I call my mom “mama”, okay, let’s not judge please.
I ran downstairs and rushed into the car. “Janu (Dear one/loved one), push your hair back. And would it kill you to wear some colors?” Mama complains, again. I sighed.
“Mama, please just, let’s go. Let me dress how I want.” I silently beg. She always does this and I can’t ever really explain why I dress like this. (xxx) I just like it.
I get to school and greet my friends. “BRINA!” Erin, my friend, yells. “My home skilly biscuit!” I yelled back and we crash into each other’s arms, giving each other an obnoxious hug. I do the same to Jordan and Ashely, my other friends, and head into the classroom.
“So we got a new kid in our homeroom.” Jordan said.
“Oh, really? What’s their name?” Ashely asked as I rolled my eyes. Ugh, ew, more freakin’ kids to bug me.
“Drew Murray.” Jordan answered.
“Ohh, a boy!” Erin exclaimed as she fixed her hair. Oh my god.
“Cool.” I said, simply.
We sat down in our assigned seats as the bell rang.
“Oi, class, settle down.” The teacher barked. The class went silent, considering she’s a scary woman. After, she put on a sickening sweet smile. “We have a new student. His name is Drew Murray.” She said as a shy little boy that’s about 2 inches taller than me stands next to her. “Don’t be shy, Drew. Introduce yourself.” She urged. The boys head flew up and my eyes instantly connected with his blue ones. Wow, nice eyes, bro.
“Uh-hi? I’m Drew… I uh-just moved here from California and uhm- yeah…” He said as the class stared at him. He shoved his hands in his pockets.
“Well, you can sit over there with Brina.” The teacher said as she pointed to me. I rolled my eyes and huffed silently.
“Dang, bro, you gotta sit with the emo!” An obnoxious chunk of a kid said, Bobby.
“Bobby, would you just shut up for one second, people hate the sound of your annoying voice.” I said, to him, glaring. His scoffed and backed down as I smirked. Stupid chub.
Drew sat next to me and looked me over. I raised my eyebrows and looked back at my desk, crossing my arms. “Hi, I’m Drew.” He said, sticking out his hand for me to shake. I took it and said, “I know.”
“What’s your name?” He urged. I notice he had a nice smile.
“Brina. Like the teacher said.” I said, chuckling a bit.
“That was cool what you said to that guy. I don’t think you’re emo. You look, cool. Super
chill.” He said, giving me a crooked smile to the right with his perfect teeth.
“Oh, uhm, thanks, I guess. You seem chill, too. We’ll get along fine.” I said simply before looking away. I could’ve sworn I saw his grin get bigger.
- Flashback ends -
“So, basically, that’s where it all started.” I said, teasing him by adding a slow drawl at my words, imitating him. He giggled a bit. Oh my fuck, his giggle is like asdfghjkl.
“Well, how’d you end up becoming so close?” He asked, holding my hand and kissing the knuckles. I giggled and fished my memory out for the story.
- Flashback To When Brina And Drew Are 12 -
I was at a Halloween party, dressed as a freakin doll (xxx). My emo phase isn’t exactly gone but it’s not as intense. I show my face and wear more colors but black is always entering my outfit somehow.
I wasn’t going to come to this party with Jordan but Drew insisted on me tagging along with him cause his brother was driving him and he wanted me to meet him. Why? I wasn’t even sure. I met his mom the other day but that was all me, mostly because I kept screaming “Excuse me!? Mrs. Murray!”, just to bug Drew but he actually introduced me after that.
Drew looks different now. He looks more like a teen, growing to about 5’6”, his hair looking more scruffy and his chub is completely gone now, leaving this skinny child behind (xxx).
“You look puurty.” Drew said, standing fairly too close to me.
“Thaaanks.” I mumbled, not really wanting to be here and socialize. I’m not a loner, I still talk to everyone but that doesn’t mean that they don’t bug me deep down.
“Having fun?” Drew asked in my ear over the loud, obnoxious, preppy white girl music.
“There are parents everywhere, 12 year olds dressed as whores, and annoying Taylor Swift music playing in the background. What do you think?” I said, coming off a little cold. I didn’t mean to, it just sort of came out that way.
Drew looked back down and continued to sip his punch. “Bro, I’m sorry, that came off pretty mean.” I apologized.
“It’s fine. Can I talk to you, though?” He asked, already grabbing my hand and leading me away from civilization. We found a pretty nice stone bench outside the building, only the bass of the music being heard now. It was a nice view, you could see the mountains perfectly and the sky was a violet color. These rich people and their beautiful surroundings. I swear.
We both sat down on the bench and were awkwardly silent for a few seconds. “So…?” I trailed.
“So, I uh-I just wanted to ask you why you’re so… Moody, most of the time?” He asked. I gulped. Nobody has ever asked me this. They usually just accepted it. It died down with Erin, Ashely, and Jordan. Erin and Ashley left the school so now, Jordan’s left. I’m not mean to her, though, probably cause she’s my best friend.
But, still, I’m only in 6th grade so why am I so mad all the time?
“I… I… I’m scared.” I confessed. A tear started to run down my cheeks, my lips quivering.
“Why? Hey, hey… Don’t cry, come here.” He said, wrapping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me towards him.
“I’m scared of being hurt. Feeling humiliated. Letting people in just so I can get screwed over. Believe me, it’s happened one too many times.” I said sniffling.
“I understand. I just want you to know that I’ll be here for you, always. I won’t screw you over, I promise. Cross my heart.” He said soothingly while putting a strand hair behind my ear.
“Okay. Thank you.” I said. I rested my head on his shoulder while kicking my feet, considering they didn’t reach the bottom of the bench. All of a sudden, I heard Drew chuckle.
“What?” I asked, my head still resting on his shoulder but turning to face him. He looked down at me and grinned.
“You. You’re so complicated.” He mused.
“Shut up.” I groaned, punching his arm.
“Ow!” He rubbed his arm. “Damn girl, you know how to punch.”
“I know.” I giggled.
“So…” He said, sticking his hand out randomly.
“Friends?” I asked, taking it and shaking it.
“Only if we can be the best of the best.” He said dramatically, causing me to giggle.
“Deal.”
- Flashback Ends -
“So yeah… That’s basically the day we became best friends.” I said, shrugging, maybe even smiling to myself a bit.
“Oh well, wow. Did you-uhm, tell him everything? You know, stuff you tell Lana?” He asked uneasily.
“No, not after a long time. I mean, I didn’t tell him my problems and, I dunno, ‘feelings’ willingly. Like, I’ll never go and tell them first, unless they prod and make me tell them. But with Lana, it’s different, I tell her everything. Eventually, it became like that with Drew, too.” I said, explaining everything instead of giving him a short answer.
“Oh. When?” He asked curiously, scratching his head with his pointer fingernail.
- Flashback To When Drew And Brina Were 15 -
New night, new party, new guy. Thank God, I’ve needed this for suuuch a long time. As you can see, I’m 15, and I have been for about… 9 months. Virgin? Nope. Druggie? Nope. Insane annoying teenager that hates her parents? Nope. Slut? Well, kinda. I mean, I sleep with guys I know. It’s sort of like, a stress reliever from all the heavy shit that comes with depression and a hard ass private school. I know, I know, “private school girls are always sluts.”, first of all; NO, THAT’S NOT TRUE. Second of all; NOT ALL GIRLS SLEEP AROUND. Third of all; I DON’T RANDOMLY SLEEP AROUND. I first get to know the person, and just go with the flow.
By new guy, I meant a new date. I’ve known this guy for a month now. He’s nice, sweet, and a little nerdy. But it’s like, a hot nerd. He’s really smart. He tutors me sometimes, in chemistry. I never got science, it’s hard. Math is sorta my thing. Anyways, he asked me out on a date last Friday. It was pretty amazing, actually. He was so nice, caring. Like, he actually wanted to know me and not just what was underneath my underwear.
“You need a ride, Bambs?” Drew (xxx) asked me while we were on the phone.
“That would be much appreciated! And ‘Bambs’? I thought it was ‘Bambi’?”
“I changed it. Everyone calls you Bambi, so I’ll call you something else. Something that only
I, myself, can call you.” Drew said, with a sense of pride in his voice.
“Alright, Dorko.” I said before hanging up. Oh Drew… Freakin’ weird.
—————
“Bambs! Get your butt down here!” Drew yelled out my open window.
“I’m guessing you’re going out with this boy, again?” My mother asked.
“He’s giving me a ride to a party, mama. Don’t worry! Nothing will happen. You know me.” I said, giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Love you.”
I ran downstairs and into Drew, practically squeezing him into the hug and going in his car.
“Hey, Dweeb.” I said, putting my seat buckle on.
“Hey, Booger.” He said back. “Pfft, nice clothes…” He nodded his head down my body and over my big long sleeve top and baggy jeans. “Fake outfit for ‘Mama’?” He teased.
“You know it.” I smirked. Of course, I’m not coming to the party in this. My real clothes are under this. This is just for my parents to see, considering my Pakistani parents would kill me otherwise. I’m wearing this (xxx).
“So, how’s Nathan?” (xxx)Drew asked, his jaw a little tense. He never liked the guys I was with. Maybe cause they only lasted a couple weeks, considering I’m a little cold when it comes to boys. Sorry, not in the mood to get my heart broken.
“He’s good. Cute as eva. I’m meeting him at the party.” I said, smiling a bit.
“Slept with him, yet?” He teased, eyes focus on the road while driving, one hand on the wheel.
“Nope! He’s innocent.” I’ve only slept with 3 guys, geeze…
“Don’t steal that innocence, B.” He said. God, he has too many nicknames for me. “He’s a good kid. He’ll treat you right if you let him. Don’t hurt him. He has a heart, unlike most guys.” He warned, a joking yet serious tone in his voice.
“Guys like you?” I nudged him, giggling.
“Hey! In my opinion, Alexa and I are going strong. I’m a good boyfriend.” Oh thank God! I love Alexa, she’s ma main white hoe. She’s sort of a dork but she’s beautiful. Too beautiful.
It makes me jealous. I mean, perfect body, perfect hair, perfect face. Everything.
I lost all my weight while I was 14, due to my insecurities and stolen HCG drops, but I still feel hideous. Why boys go for me, I will forever have no utter idea, maybe cause of my new found reputation.
“Thank God, I love that girl. She’s soooo amazing. Keep her, okay? And don’t break her heart, she’s fragile. And she likes you. A lot.” I said, warning him sweetly.
“Don’t worry, I will.” He said, smiling a bit. Awww, so freakin’ cute. Finger heart…
———-
“So…” Nathan asked, more like trailed as we walked around the sidewalk of the house’s backyard.
“You tell me.” I smirked. I think I was making him nervous, not really sure.
“You wanna drink?” He asked, offering his beer. I took it and gulped down a sip, handing it back to him before he copied my actions.
“Thanks.” I smiled at him. I noticed he had pretty eyes. I also noticed we stopped walking. He was leaning in, as was I. I could smell the alcohol in his breath, and I was pretty sure he could do the same. His lips pressed onto mine, molding them softly into mine, massaging them. The kiss was nice, soft and warm. Your usual first kiss. It was cute and sweet, but there were no butterflies. I haven’t felt any butterflies since Drew and I kissed when we were 13. But, he’s just my best friend, not my secret crush.
After we pulled away, Nathan smiled at me. I smiled back. “Brina… I wanna ask you something.” He shifted nervously, looking down at the pavement.
“Go ahead.” I smiled reassuringly, telling him to just go ahead with whatever he has to say.
“I was-uh… I was, wondering if you-uh, if you’d go out… With me… Like, be m-my girl…friend-girlfriend.” He stuttered. My eyes went wide in shock. Oh shit. Fuck no. How do I do this? How do I turn him down?
“Aww, Nathan, uhm…” I trailed, he looked hopeful. “Look, I know for a fact that you’re an amazing guy and any-I mean any- girl would be so lucky to be yours but… I don’t like relationships. I’m not all for the whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing. I’m sorry…” I trailed. He looked down, now hopeless and hurt. Aw, fuck. Fuck my life.
“Oh, it’s uh- it’s alright. Should’ve known.” He mumbled.
“Known what?” I asked, curious. Was he implying that I was too slutty for wanting a relationship?
“Knowing that a pretty girl like you would wanna go out with an unpopular guy like me.” He said, finally looking up. He started to walk away but I grabbed his wrist.
“Stop, it’s not like that. I’m serious. You’re amazing, I’m just-complicated.” I said quickly.
“Yeah, sure.” He said because yanking his hand out of my reach and walking away.
Fuck. Shit. Damn. FUCK! I kicked a random beer bottle and sat down on a bench with my head in my hands.
Drew’s POV:
I saw Nathan grab a random beer bottle and chug it down ruthlessly, barely taking any time to breathe before he downed the whole bottle. Damn, he seems pissed, a guy doesn’t just chug a drink like that without wanting to get his mind off something. I, being the great friend I am, decided to confront him about it. Oh shit, it better not be Brina. Ugh, it probably is.
“Hey, bro.” I said, walking up to him and patting his back. “What’s up?” I nodded to the, now empty, beer bottle.
“Fucking Brina Shanti.” He nastily responded. Oh fuck, what’d she do this time? I swear, that girl’s like a siren. She’ll lure guys in with her beauty just to kill em’ with her ways.
“What happened?” I hesitantly asked.
“I asked her to be my girlfriend and she shot me down, after leading me on! Seriously, who does that? If she wasn’t interested, then she didn’t have to lead me on for a fucking month.” He scowled. I rolled my eyes at this, what is wrong with her? After I told her to be careful with him? Time for Drew to do damage control, again.
“Brina doesn’t really do the whole relationship thing. She’s… She… Well, I’m not really sure on what goes on with her about the whole relationship thing. But trust me, it’s nothing you did, she thinks you’re great!” I nudged him, hoping to lift his spirit. It didn’t. “Look, it’s her. Not you. Now, please excuse me while I fucking find this damn girl.” I muttered as Nathan reached out for another bottle. “Ah-ah-ah, no. You don’t need more.” I said, gripping the bottle and placing it on another counter as he nodded and sat on a couch and grabbing a random girl to make out with. Oh how… Something I didn’t wanna see.
I searched and searched until I realized that she probably took a walk, something she loves to do. I walked along the concrete sidewalk before spotting big curly hair along with a body sitting on a bench. Brina.
I went to the bench and sat down next to her.
“Alright, what the fuck happened with Nathan?” I asked as she groaned.
“He asked me to be his girlfriend, I said no, he started flipping out!” Brina said, frustrated.
“Brina,” I started, taking her shoulders and looking into her big brown eyes. “Nathan is a really good guy. What the hell was wrong with him? Why do you always do this?” I asked, keeping my cool. She simply rolled her eyes as I got frustrated. “Brina, you can’t keep messing with people’s minds!” I shouted. Brina flinched. She looked… Scared. “You can’t keep hurting guys like this.” She averted her gaze.
“I-I… I can’t deal with the pain…” She mumbled.
“What?” I asked. What the hell is she talking about?
“I can’t deal with the pain of getting a broken heart. I’ve seen so many people let themselves get hurt because of a relationship and I… I refuse to be them.” She said quietly. My expression softened. This girl is going to be the death of me. Can she not see that I could prevent that? Wait, what? No… I have Alexa. Drew, shut up.
“Brina… You can’t be afraid of that. You have to take risks in life.” I said, bringing her to my right side and wrapping my arms around her.
“I don’t want to.” She said, “I’m not ready. It was just harmless fun. That’s all it was supposed to be. Fun. I won’t let a guy have that sort of power over me, I’d rather be on top, calling the shots, you know.” She said, wrapping her arms around my torso and bringing me closer, cuddling her head into my chest.
“It’s okay, Brina. I-I understand.” I said, smoothing her hair. She’s never told me these things before. Nothing personal. We were just, I dunno, really close friends without the confessions. Well, I would tell her everything but she would keep her secrets to herself, covering them with her bright conversation and hilarious jokes.
To be honest, I understand completely what she’s saying. Girls get too much hurt from guys. So, of course, she wants the upper hand, so her heart will never get hurt, but the other guy’s heart, instead. It’s tragic but still, it makes sense.
I kissed her head and continued to twirl my fingers in her curls. She just laid there, obviously feeling bad about her actions.
God, she’s too beautiful for her own good. Yep, okay, screw Alexa, I love Brina. No shame.
This day is the day we become best friends, and also the day I fell in love with Brina Shanti, hopelessly.
Brina’s POV:
Wow. I think this is the first personal thing I’ve told Drew ever since I met him.
This could be good, I trust him, he’s given me no reason not to trust him.
I think I could consider him my best friend now, not just a friend. He’s earned it in more ways than one. He’s always there for me, he always makes me happy, putting a smile on my face no matter what mood I’m in. He’s just like Lana, but a white boy version.
Hmm, he’s soft. He smells good, too. And he’s attractive… Woah, Brina, shut up. He’s just your best friend, nothing else, calm your hormones.
- Flashback Ends -
“So, is that when you started liking him?” Harry asked.
“Yeah… Kinda. Like, I was edging towards it but more likely just becoming best friends with him.” I explained, shrugging as if it’s nothing, even though I’m sure it’s one of the memories I cherish the most.
“Wait, you said your first kiss was with him but you weren’t even dating…?” Harry’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Oh the memories…
- Flashback To When Brina And Drew Were 13 -
Brina’s POV:
Truth or Dare. Oh this game… One of the most entertaining yet deadly games of the teen age. So, I’m still an “emo” child, I guess. But, I don’t think I’m that bad now. My hair’s kinda scene-ish… Well, actually, it’s really scene-ish. You can’t see my forehead but you can still see my eyes! I promise. I don’t wear all black but I still like to. Mostly skinnies and tees, or shorts, whatever (xxx).
My body on the other hand… Well, my stomach is flabby and my thighs are huge, making my butt look big, too. I can usually hide my stomach with my shirts so people just naturally think I have big boobs. But my lower half is a problem. See, most white boys aren’t really into big butts but my colored “acquaintances” are pretty much into it. But the thing is… I go to a private school, so white guys are the only option. Which is not to my benefit.
“Brina!” I heard Lana shout. Yep, Lana. My new best friend. Jordan, Ashely, and Erin left the school, leaving me alone to make new friends. I made them with ease, but no close ones. Until this bitch came in my life and made things 100x easier.
“Oh uhm-yeah?” I asked. Oh yeah, I forgot, we’re playing a game.
“Truth or Dare, honey…?” She taunted. I playfully glared at her and said truth. I wouldn’t want to know what she’d make me do on a dare.
“Hmm…” She smirked, evilly, if I might add. “Have you had your first kiss, yet?” Ugh, she knew the answer to that! She’s doing this because this guy named Mikes seems to like me and I know what she’ll make me do the next time I choose dare… In case you’re an idiot, she’ll make me kiss him and “make me get my first kiss outta the way”, as she would say.
“No.” I said bluntly as shocked faces appeared on everybody’s face as Lana smirked. Probably because I’m the only one here who hasn’t had it. Screw my life. “Ugh… I hate you, Lana.” I groaned, earning laughs from everyone.
“You love me.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Nope.” I said, popping the “p”.
“Yes you do, now, moving on!” She cheered. I scanned the room until I found Drew’s nervous eyes. Hmm, I’ll use him as my prey.
“Drew!” I beamed. “Truth or Dare, love?” I intimidated in a British accent.
“Ermm… I’ll stick to truth.” He said.
“Dammit! I had a good dare, too. I don’t have a good question…” I trailed until a light bulb went on in my head. “What’s the farthest you’ve ever gotten with a girl? Or guy, if that’s what you prefer?” I taunted the last sentence, earning laughs as Drew glared.
“One, I’m straight. And two, I haven’t gotten my first kiss, too.” He smirked. Damn, I’m defeat. Wait, wha? But-he’s attractive. Well, for a 13-year-old.
“Wow, that was… Unexpected.” I mumbled as everyone agreed.
“Kinda like you.” He shot back. I rolled my eyes.
The game continued on until Lana asked Drew and he actually said dare.
“Kiss Brina for 5 seconds.” She said simply as I spitted out my water.
“WHAT!?” I exclaimed after wiping my chin. Lana started bursting out laughing as well as the others. “Stop it, it’s not funny…” I whined, embarrassed by my spit-take.
“Okay.” Drew shrugged with a smug smile. Whattheactualfuck.
I stood there frozen as he leaned in. His face was inches away from mine until he brought his lips up to my ear. “You look really pretty, by the way.” He whispered before pressing his lips urgently to mine. I closed my eyes and kissed back. His lips were soft and warm, molding into mine. I felt this tingly sensation in my stomach, realizing that they were butterflies, something I’ve never gotten before. The seconds were slow, so much longer than expected.
He pulled away and locked his blue eyes with mine, showing off his perfectly white smile. We were both panting slightly, trying to catch our breath. “Best kiss ever.” He whispered, so only I could hear. I smiled shyly before looking at the shocked faces. What the hell, I never get shy. This is new…
Lana smiled smugly. “What?” I asked. “It was dare and he-we did it.” I shrugged, putting on an act.
“That was 8 seconds, not 5.” She smirked.
“Ugh, shut up, so we lost count, moving on, peasants.” I said as everyone giggled and carried on with the game as I was still secretly thinking of that kiss. It was, indeed, the best kiss ever.
- Flashback Ends -
“Best kiss ever, huh?” Harry scoffed.
“Hehe yeah…” I trailed, smiling. “But then I met you.” I gushed, kissing his cheek. It’s true, Harry’s kisses beat Drew. They’re different. Nothing alike.
“Oh, really?” He mused.
“Mmhmm.” I bit my lip and kissed his nose. I’m not gonna kiss him on his lips, I probably have morning breath and that’s nasty.
“Well then, that makes me feel better.” He grinned, rubbing his thumb in circles on my hand as they were entwined. “When’d you start dating?” He asked.
- Flashback To When Brina And Drew Were 16-17 -
Brina’s POV:
They’re fighting. Again.
I know my parents love each other but when they fight, I start to question it. They’re fighting is always so scary. Usually dishing are being thrown, swear words in Urdu back and forth, and sometimes my mom’s anger gets to her and she’ll slap my dad or punch him somewhere on his body. Of course, my dad doesn’t dare lay a finger on her like that, he’s a Pakistani man with morals. He’ll respect them no matter what.
But here I am, sitting in my room, with my 13-year-old sister and my other 6-year-old sister. I needed to get out. I couldn’t take this. I knew my other sisters could cause they’re normal but my emotions are just getting the best of me, making me more emotional than my sisters. Just for an hour, just for that time, I needed to leave.
“I need to leave, Aliyah, stay here with Kajol. Do not leave her side. I mean it.” I told my 2nd sister. She understood completely, as she knows my depression, leaving my youngest sister confused and scared. “Put on a movie on my laptop, use headphones. If they knock on the door, you open it and keep Kajol away.” I warned, knowing my parents like to make us take sides. “Don’t take sides.” I said, lastly. I know that us taking sides usually cause the problems to heighten.
I got my hoodie and left out the back, making sure my parents don’t notice. As I got out, I opened my phone to text Drew (xxx).
“Can you meet me at the park? The one we always go to?”
He responded. “Yeah, be there in 5 (:”
I walked to the park, considering it’s right next to my house, and sat on a swing. I’m scared of swings so I just don’t swing, just sit there, trying to control my tears from falling. 5 minutes later, Drew showed up and sat down on the swing next to me. He lives close to me, 5 minutes by car.
“What’s up, Bri-Bear?” He asked, noticing my expression and urgent need for him. I would’ve called Lana but she lives too far and I can’t make her come all the way here just for my problems.
“They’re fighting. Again.” I whispered, wondering if he even heard me. He did, though.
“Aww, come here. On the lap, you come.” He said in an English accent, making me smile but roll my eyes. I sat down on his lap and leaned my head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around my middle. I know, it sounds like we’re a couple, right? But, for us, this is normal. We’re just close. “It’s alright, Brina. It’ll be fine. Remember, they always fight but always make up and are back to their happy selves.” He reminded me, opting to get a smile. It didn’t work. Instead, a tear strolled down my cheek.
“I can’t take it, Drew. They fight and it makes me scared that they’ll get a divorce, and I can’t handle that. I know most kids have families like that but I don’t want to, I can’t, I need them both. The-they need each other. It makes me scared cause they’re the only hope I have… The only hope that Pakistani girls can have love, too. I know it’s stupid but-it’s true.” I confessed, now crying silently into his shirt as he smoothed my hair.
“Shhh…. Shhh… It’s alright, okay, it’s fine. Don’t worry, it’ll be okay.” He kept saying over and over again. “Brina, y-you’ll always can find love like that, no matter what race or religion you are.” He said.
Drew’s POV:
This is it Drew. Just tell her. You’ll never do it again after this. This is the moment. Go. Go. Go.
“Brina, if you just let me, I’ll show you.” I said vaguely. She lifted her head up and looked into my eyes. Her eyes were puffy and red, glistening with her tears. The sight broke me even more. “I-I… I’ve always liked you. More than a friend. More than a best friend. I… I-” I cut myself off. I didn’t know what else to say. I’m not going to tell her I love her because that’ll scare her off, I know it will.
“Really? As like, a relationship, kind of way…?” She questioned. I nodded. She didn’t say anything but brought her left hand to my neck and gripped it gently. She started leaning in closer until I quickly closed the gap and pressed my lips to hers. It was just like our first kiss, but intensified 10x more. There was more passion in it, I couldn’t really explain it. I pulled away after a few seconds.
“I only want to do this if it’s different. I don’t want to be one of your guys that you throw away like trash after leading them on. I’m not going to be a victim to a siren.” I said seriously as she giggled.
“A siren? Really, Drew?” She giggled as I did, too. I can believe I actually said that. I mean, I always thought that but never really wanted her to hear it. “Don’t worry, Drew. You’re different. I trust you, just-don’t prove me wrong. Please.” She pleaded as I smiled brightly.
“Be mine?” I asked, hopeful.
“I thought you’d never ask.” She said before kissing me once more. She pulled away and giggled. “This is kinda hard, kissing you, sitting like this.” She giggled. I brought my hands to her waist and lifted her up, bring one leg to one side of my waist and the other on the other side, straddling me. She giggled once more. God, that giggle is too cute.
“You’re giggle is going to be the death of me.” I whispered as she adjusted herself, giggling more. Gah! She rolled her eyes.
“I can’t believe you’re making me straddle you.” She whispered. “I feel like I’m going to fall.” She admitted. I gripped her waist and brought her closer, wrapping my arms around her tightly.
“You won’t. I promise.” I smiled at her, as she kissed me once more, smiling into it as did I.
Brina’s POV:
How did the worst day ever turn into the best day ever? I finally have the guy I want, the guy I need. Now I just hope he doesn’t hurt me, but for some reason, I know he won’t. Because for a relationship to work, they need to become best friends first, then lovers.
- Flashback Ends -
“Oh well, those were just one too many images I wanted in my head. Could’ve kept the making out brief, love.” Harry said uneasily.
“Sorry, got caught in the moment…” I said truthfully.
“Ha, yeah… Uhm, so more importantly, when did you guys break up? And why?” He asked, a little more interested in this story. Of course he’d want to know if Drew did something stupid like break my heart or something but that’s not the case.
- Flashback To When Brina And Drew Were 17 -
Drew and I have been dating for 7 months. 7 amazingly long months. Well, maybe it wasn’t that long to most people but to me, it’s pretty long.
I heard my phone buzz and looked down to read the text I received from… Drew!
“Hey pretty face <3 Come to the park for a walk? (:”
“Pretty face? That was lame! But yeah, okay (: Be there in 10.” I replied.
“Yes, because your face is pretty. And yaaaaaaaaay!” He replied. I smiled and just rolled my eyes.
Drew told me he loved me last month, April 15th, 2012. Honestly, it was too scary. I thought he’d expect something from me but he didn’t. We actually haven’t had sex yet, much to my dismay but Drew said we simply couldn’t do it until I love him because I made him a promise to only have sex the next time I’m in love, which will be never. So I will forever be sex deprived. Yay me.
I quickly dressed into this: (xxx)
I didn’t really wear much makeup, only eyeliner and lip balm/gloss. Makeup doesn’t suite me, I’m not into the whole fake thing.
I strolled down the sidewalk and spotted my little blonde dork of a boyfriend. I ran up to him and sneakily tapped his back, only to move me feet swiftly so I was out of his sight when he turned his head. He turned his head back forward and jumped when he saw me. I giggled and kissed his lips, bringing the butterflies to play.
“‘Sup D-Dog?” I said casually. He groaned.
“Ugh, do you still have to call me that?” He glared playfully.
“Well, you named your dog that so I will call you that to forever taunt you.” I said proudly as he chuckled and wrapped me in his arms. He seemed to hold me tighter than usual, afraid to let go. When he pulled away, he looked down at me, into my eyes. He was a good 5’9”. He looked worried, as if something was on his mind.
“Are you alright?” I asked, keeping my arms on his neck.
“I-I have to tell you something.” He managed to choke out. He seemed like he was going to cry but no tears sprung his eyes. “My family’s moving…” He whispered. I detached myself from him and took a step back.
“What?” I said confused. Is he leaving me?
“My dad got a better job in England. We move in a week.” He said. I could see the hurt in his eyes and I wanted to comfort him but I was hurting too much, plus my pride likes to get in the way and make me angry as possible.
“Why didn’t you tell me this before!?” I yelled in frustration as a tear rolled down my cheek.
“I just found out last night!” He defended. He sighed and took a step towards me and held my hands. I keep my gaze on my shoes, mentally tracing the design.
“What does this mean for us?” I asked quietly. “We’re done, right?” I said, more tears brimming my eyelids. So much for wearing eyeliner.
“Hey, we got a week, yeah?” He said, lifting my chin up with his finger and smiling sadly. I could see the tears in his eyes. I went on my tippy toes and kissed his cheek, pressing my lips on the flesh longer than usual. I felt a cool liquid fall on my nose. I pulled away and noticed it was Drew’s tear. I wiped his cheek along with my nose.
“Yeah, a week.” I said, bring hope to my voice to bring his spirit up. I wanted him to be okay, I wanted him to feel better. I cared about him more than myself. It’s harder for him, he’s the one who’s life is going to be changed. “We’ll make the most of it.” I said, smiling through my slow tears.
And we did.
One Week Later.
I was driving Drew to the airport tonight and I couldn’t stop my tears. I was sitting on my couch, watching TV and eating ice cream with Lana, much to my protest but she insisted I eat it, claiming it’ll make me feel better but it just made me feel fat. She was comforting me, helping me through it and giving encouraging words. I wished I was with him though, but he needed to finish packing and saying goodbye to the rest of his friends.
I eventually stopped crying, mostly because no water was left in my eyes to cry. I quickly excused myself and washed my face with cool water, getting rid of the red tint in my face and eyes. After, I got dressed, very casually, if I may add; sweats and Drew’s AC/DC tee.
Drew never liked me wearing too much makeup, in fact, he liked me better without it. Sometimes he make me take my eye liner off because he wanted to see my “beautiful eyes”. He never did fail in making me feel beautiful.
“Lana, I’m leaving, are you coming?” I asked. Lana and Drew we’re really close, too, best friends almost. We were like the 3 musketeers.
“Yeah, hold on.” She said before grabbing her jacket and walking up to the door with me.
“I’ll drive, you and Drew can be all lovey-dovey in the back.” She said, causing me to chuckle. She smiled at me, probably happy because she heard me laugh for the first time.
“Thank you.” I pulled her into a hug and held her tight.
We drove to his house and I knocked on the door, waiting for him to open it. His parents already left the house, saying they needed to attend some other stuff before leaving for the airport. I mustered up a big, fake smile as I saw the door open.
“Hey, Dweeb.” I said, kissing him passionately on the lips. We stayed like that for the longest time until Lana coughed awkwardly. I pulled away and laughed, pushing Lana slightly.
“Cockblock.” Drew said as he glared playfully at Lana. Lana rolled her eyes and snapped her fingers.
“Come on, lovebirds, we gotta leave now. The airport is faaaaaar!” She said. She was right, the airport was an hour drive and we can’t have him missing his flight considering tickets are expensive and I don’t want him to buy another.
We all put Drew’s suitcases into the trunk of my car and hopped in. Lana was in the driver’s seat and Drew and I sat in the pack. He wrapped his arms around my middle and I leaned my head into his chest. I wanted to cry. I wanted to cry so bad but I can’t. I can’t show my pain in front of him or it’ll make it harder on him.
“I’m gonna miss you so much.” He whispered.
“I’ll miss you more.” I smirk, joking around a bit to avoid sad atmosphere.
“I love you so much.” He said, nuzzling his face into the crook of my neck and holding me tighter. I felt small kisses butterflying everywhere around my neck. I hummed at the movement, knowing it calms me down. He lifted his head up and lifted my chin up with his fingers, making me look at him.
“Keep your promise, okay?” He said. I knew what he was talking about. My sex/love promise. Yes, it was a promise to myself but it was also a promise to Drew, reminding me to respect myself and that I can deserve better than one night stands. I nodded and he kissed my lips, tenderly. “And your other promise.” He said, and I also knew what the other one was.
**Flashback In Flashback To When Drew And Brina Were In The Cafe**
Lana and I were getting ready for our set for the cafe we worked at. We sat down at the stage, getting prepared and waiting for the crowd to settle down. Once they did, I noticed a familiar face. Drew. I instantly smiled at my boyfriend, not knowing he was going to come here. I told him about my job but didn’t ever sing in front of him, I thought it was awkward.
Soon, I smiled back at Lana and nodded my head towards Drew. She smiled and gave me a look that said “You ready?”. I nodded. We started to sing “Papercut” by Summer Set.
How can you tell me that your minds made up
When I see you throwing pennies in a well for luck
And for what we’re not stuck here
Just keep messing around
And get in trouble like we used to, like we used to
How can you tell me that your minds made up
When we’re just eighteen we’re much too young
To make decisions bout the future
Where we wanna be for now
Nothings changing now, nothings changing
My papercut doesn’t hurt that much
You sneak under my skin like the first time we touched
Your not out of luck, you just think too much
Are you over your head or just holding your breath
Why do you think you’re such a mess?
How can you tell me that your scared to jump
When you dove head first down the well for luck
And I saved you when you got stuck
You’re not as scared with the people you love
Oh how can you tell me that I drink too much
What’s the fun in never fucking up
Got no decisions about the future
Running through my head for now
Nothings changing no, I’m not changing
This papercut doesn’t hurt that much
You sneak under my skin like the first time we touched
Your not out of luck you just think too much
Are you over your head or just holding your breath
Why do you think your such a mess?
You’re not alone
I found a friend in your demon
So you don’t have to see them
Your not alone
No you just don’t know who you are
My papercut doesn’t hurt that much
You sneak under my skin like the first time we touched
Your not out of luck you just think too much
Are you over your head or just holding your breath
My papercut doesn’t hurt that much
You sneak under my skin like the first time we touched
Your not out of luck you just think too much
Are you over your head or just holding your breath
Why do you think your such a mess?
How can you can tell me that your minds made up
When I see you throwing pennies in a well for luck
And for what, we’re not stuck here
Just keep messing around
And get in trouble like we used to, like we used to
After, we decided to take a break, while people would request songs on a sheet of paper and give them to our manager to pick one out for us to quickly rehearse.
Drew quickly ran up to me and gave me a bone crushing hug, cutting off my oxygen.
“Drew-I-can’t,” I gasped. “Breathe.” He chuckled and let me go. I took a huge breath and smiled wide. “Hey.” I laughed.
“You were fucking amazing! No, fantastic! No, just, incredible! You were, too, Lana! You both were, why didn’t you guys ever sing for me!?” He exclaimed with a huge grin on his face. I smiled widely and kissed him, smiling into it.
“Thank you.” I said, still smiling.
“You guys need to promise me that you’ll try your absolute hardest to make a career of your singing.” He said, very seriously. Lana and I looked at each other quizzically before looking back at Drew. I raised my eyebrows at him and crossed my arms.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“I’m asking you to promise me that you guys will try to become singers, actually try.” He said, seriously again.
We pondered it for a moment before responded.
“Promise.” We said, smiling.
**Flashback of Flashback Ends**
We spent the entire car ride just talking and kissing, something a normal couple would do on a date.
By the time we arrived to the airport, Drew was asleep on my shoulder, my arms wrapped around his torso. I ruffled his scruffy hair. “Hey, wake up, sleepy head.” I whispered in his ear, giggling a bit. He was so cute sleeping, almost looking like an innocent little boy.
He shuffled around before lifting his head up and smiling lazily at me. He stole a kiss far too fast for me to kiss back, making me giggle more. “Time to go…” I trailed.
“I don’t want to. Please, don’t make me. Let’s just make me skip the flight, let’s ditch.” He said, smiling mischievously but there was a sad glint in his eye.
“Hey,” I said, soothingly, taking his face in my hands. “You have to leave. I know you don’t want to but you’ll love it there. England’s amazing.”
“It doesn’t have you. The girl I’m in love with.” He said with his voice cracking.
“You’ll find another girl. One that’ll make you feel like you’re flying, like your friendship’s on fire. You’ll find a girl that’ll love you back equally or even more. I promise, Drew. You’re amazing, you’re gonna have so many friends. I know it.” I gushed as he cracked a slight smile. He nodded and opened the car door, stepping out and making me follow closely behind. We got his luggage and stood outside the building. “I guess this is goodbye.” I said, smiling sadly but hiding it.
Drew looked at me and let a tear slip down his cheek. He held me close, our foreheads touching as we looked into each other’s eyes for the last time. He slowly leaned down so he was eye level from me. We were only inches away from each other, his warm breath fanning my face. He quickly pressed his lips onto mine for the last time, molding them perfectly for the last time, melting into the warms and softness of them for the last time. The kiss was our normal kiss on fire. The passion was intensified to the skies and my feet felt like they had left the ground. We slowly pulled away and I looked into those amazing
blue eyes for the last time.
“I love you.” He whispered from his beautiful lips. “Always.”
“I know. Now go.” I said, nodding to the door and hugging him for the last time.
I watched him leave, mentally saying goodbye to him. To everything we had.
I got into the passenger seat of my car and Lana drove away.
“You gonna be alright?” She asked, turning on the radio.
“Yeah,” I said smiling to myself. “I think I’ll be okay.” And I felt it. Yeah, I’ll miss Drew, a lot, but I’ll be fine. I know I will, because if Drew treated me like he did, then there’s some hope for other guys. I, from this day onwards, will give boys a chance. A chance to prove themselves before judging straight away. I mean, hey, it’s all about the first impressions as my mother would say…
- Flashback Ends -
“Wow. That’s… Intense.” Harry said. “So he didn’t do anything wrong? He was, perfect?” He seemed worried or nervous, not wanting to believe me.
“Yeah, he was.” I said. “Like you.” I kissed his cheek lovingly. He was sitting criss-crossed and I was sitting in his lap, wrapping my legs around his waist. I held his hands and looked into his eyes. They were so green but so nervous. Why?
Harry’s POV:
Shit. Fuck I’m fucked. Bloody fucked. He’s bloody perfect! There was nothing wrong with him! Nothing! At all! What am I supposed to do now? She was all dreamy when she started talking about Drew. I could see that beautiful smile. It never left her face! God, how am I supposed to compete with him?
“You okay?” She asked, curiously. Her curls were sticking in every which way, making her face look even more adorable.
“Yes, love. I’m fine.” I said, wrapping my arms around her frame and holding her close to me, burying my face in her neck. She just woke up and she still smells amazing.
Ugh, it pisses me off how Drew got to even kiss her neck, inhale her scent. Maybe I could talk to Lana about him, get some other information.
“Well, I’m going to get washed up so I can kiss you.” Brina mumbled in my ear, sending chills down my spine. Christ, I sound like a girl.
I released and watched her sauntered over to the bathroom. Before she closed the door, she winked seductively at me and flashed a smile. God, I want her.
I was already washed up, mostly because I woke up before Brina. That girl can really sleep.
I’m pretty sure she can out sleep Zayn.
I went downstairs and saw Lana sitting on the couch. I plopped down on the sofa, next to her. “Heeeeeeeeeeeey.” I said goofily.
“Ello, young chap!” She, very poorly, intimidated with a British accent. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
“I’m older than you.” I said plainly before cracking a smile as she huffed.
“Whatever…” She said, defeated. “So what’s up? Brina up?” She asked.
“Yeah, she’s up. Finally. It’s 2 PM! We didn’t even go to sleep late!” I exclaimed as Lana had a look on her face. It was sort of like a “Yeah… I know the reason to that.” face. I shrugged it off, if Brina wants me to know, she’ll tell me. I think. Maybe. Probably not. One can hope.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Shoot.” She said casually, still looking at the TV.
“Well, a week or so, we met Drew.” I said as she shot up.
“Oh yeah! She told me! Damn, I miss that dork. He was always so smart, made us feel like dumbasses.” She gushed before seeing my annoyed facial expression. “What? Are you jealous?” She taunted with a wicked smile.
“No! I’m Harry Styles. I don’t get jealous.” I huffed before being slapped around the head by Lana herself. “Ow! What the hell?”
“That’s for being ignorant.” She warned as I held my hands up in defense and mouthed a sorry.
“But, anyways. She’s really… Happy, when she talks about him. Why? We’re they really that great of a couple?” I asked. Lana sighed and gave me her full attention.
“Harry, the thing is… Drew was like, Brina’s savior. He kinda stopped her player ways, and showed her that not everyone sucks. Also, he was there for her when no one else couldn’t be. He’s really special to her. Brina used to be a huge party girl, and I mean, hangovers every weekend and getting high and shit, but he stopped that. He was like the angel of her conscience and society was the devil. He even helped her stop with her cutting.” Lana said as I nodded. Fuck, yep, Harry, you’re mother fucking fucked.
“Did she love him?” I asked hesitantly. I know Brina said she didn’t but Lana knows Brina more than Brina knows herself, Lana can tell me the truth.
“Surprisingly, no. Brina doesn’t love. She can’t. It’s not in her nature. Love will scare her off, she doesn’t believe in it.” Lana explained as I shifted my gaze. Shit, I’m in love with her. What will that do to us? We’ve been dating for only 2 months. “Oh shit. Harry-you’re not…” Lana trailed. She didn’t have to finish her sentence.
“No!” I retorted.
“You are! Oh my god, you love her!” She shout-whispered.
“N-no…” I trailed unconvincingly as Lana titled her head and rose her eyebrows. “Don’t tell her. I don’t want to scare her off.” I beg as she nodded, grinning too big for my liking. I groaned in annoyance as she chuckled.
Suddenly, I heard my phone ringing from the kitchen counter top. I recognized the ring tone and rushed into the kitchen to answer.
“Hello!?” I asked, frantically happy.
“Harreh? Is that you?” I heard the voice say.
“Mummy!” I yelled excitedly.
“Harry! Your voice is so deep. My God, my boy is growing up so fast. How are you?”
“I’m great, mum. Haha, how are you?”
We had light conversation, catching up here and there.
“So, I hear you have a girlfriend now?” She asked. Of course she saw the tabloids. I smiled to myself slightly.
“Yeah, she’s amazing. She makes me really happy, mum.”
“That’s lovely. Erm… How old is she?” Mum asked hesitantly as I groaned.
“Mum! C’mon, that was once… And Brina is 17, turning 18 this year. Her name’s Brina Shanti.” I said, smiling.
“Aww, my baby is so grown up.” She gushed.
“Mum…” I groaned, one more.
“I saw her in the pictures. Is she Hispanic?”
“Haha no, mum. She’s Pakistani, like Zayn!” I chuckled. Everyone always thinks she’s Hispanic.
“Oh! Well, that’s lovely. I’d love to meet her.”
“Yeah, I want you to meet her, too. Wait, I have an idea! Come out here, with Gemma, stay with Lou and I for the weekend. C’mon, please? Join us for dinner, we’re going on Saturday. Please, mum? I’ll fly you guys out, first class if I must.” I begged. I miss my mum and Gemma.
“Uhm… Okay, Harry. But flying us out won’t be necessary.”
“Too late, I’m doing it! Well, I need to go, I’ll email you the details, love you!” I said frantically before she could turn down my offer.
“Love you, too!”
Yes. Brina is going to meet my mum. She’ll love her, Brina’s always good at first impressions, plus her personality is beyond compare.
I felt arms wrap around my waist as I turned around to see Brina smiling up at me.
“Hey.” She smiled.
“Hello, love.” I smiled back. “So… Now can you kiss me?” I asked cheekily.
“Why not?” She grasped my neck with her hands and pulled my down, standing on her tippy-toes cause she’s a short girl. The cutest.
I molded my lips with hers, moving them perfectly in sync. I could smell the mint of her toothpaste. The kiss was perfect, as usual. We pulled away and Brina took a random apple and bit into it. “Who was on the phone?” She asked.
“My mum. She wants to meet you. I told her about you.” I admitted as I sat down to the opposite chair.
“Oh, really?” She asked, surprised.
“Yeah, you’ll meet soon. At dinner on Saturday. Hopefully sooner.” I grinned as her expression turned into worry.
“What if she doesn’t like me…?” She trailed.
“Brina, let’s be rational, she’s obviously going to love you and will have to be absolutely bonkers not to!” I exclaimed as she giggled and shrugged.
“Only time will tell.”
—————-
“Brina!” I yelled from downstairs. It was now Friday and you’re probably wondering why I’m still living with Brina, huh? Well, her aunt had to extend her trip for another 3 weeks as something went wrong and they must start their project all over again. And Brina likes to say that I keep away her dreams so I’ll stay for as long as she wants, which is for a long time I hope and not fucking Drew. I bet he didn’t keep away the dreams. Ha!
“Yeah?” I heard her muffle from upstairs.
“Come down, love!” I chuckled. Brina cascaded down the stairs and jumped into my arms.
“Yes?”
“My mum’s flight lands today and I was wondering if you’d like to come to lunch with us?” I asked.
“Oh uhm… Uh-I dunno…” She stuttered nervously.
“C’mon!”
“Erm… O-okay.” She said, trying to give me a smile.
“Yes!” I threw my head back in celebration and kissed her hard, too much excitement flowing through. “Get ready! We leave in 20 minutes! Niall’s coming for Lana later.” I informed her as I set her down onto her feet. She rushed upstairs. I hope she wears something nice, though. Even though I love her t-shirts and casual clothes, I don’t want my mother to think she’s a slob. Mum’s very into first impressions so I depend on Brina’s.
20 minutes later, Brina came down looking like her beautiful self, never letting me down with her style: (xxx)
Oh yeah, mum’s going to love her. Just like me. Oh God, do we have to leave now? All I want to do is make out with her now…
“What do you think?” She asked nervously, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“You’re stunning.” I said, taking her in my arms and kissing her lips tenderly. I pulled away and bit my lip. “You look so sexy in heels, babe.” I whispered in her ear seductively. I kissed neck and pulled away. She smirked and walked away, but not before I tapped her bum and chuckled as she gave me a playful glare.
We drove to the airport and went inside, waiting at the baggage claim for my mum.
“Excuse but, you’re Harry Styles.” A girl around 15 gaped.
“Aha yeah, that’s me.” I said awkwardly.
“Can you puh-lease sign my face?” She asked seriously as Brina cracked up laughing. I chuckled a little at her reaction and the girl looked at Brina. “Oh my mother flacking God!” *mental facepalm* “You’re his girlfriend! Brina! You’re way prettier in person! I love your hair! And your shirt! Can you sign my face, too!?” She fangirled. Brina started laughing a lot more now.
“Haha thank you, honey. And erm… I don’t have a signature but I’ll just write my name I guess?” She said even more awkwardly.
“Deal!” She girl said.
We finished signing her face and she took a video of the whole thing, tweeting about it. Thank God the airport doesn’t have many people right now, mostly elderly people.
Gemma’s POV:
We got out of the gate and into baggage claim, looking for my freak of a brother.
“Mum! Gemma!” I heard a deep voice screech. We turned our heads and saw a large figure with curly hair running towards. It’s my brother.
“Harry!” Mum and I yelled in unison. We all group hugged for a long time, Harry’s really strong arms squeezing us both. We all pulled away and mum was the first one to speak.
“So, did Brina come or…?”
“Oh yes! She did! Follow me!” Harry said with an excited facial expression. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this excited for a girl.
We followed him to a tanned skinned girl who was way out of my brother’s league. How on Earth did he get her?
“H-Hi. I’m Brina. Brina Shanti. H-Harry’s girlfriend.” She said, nevously, sticking out her hand for us to shake. Mum smiled and shook her head.
“Come here, love.” She said, pulling Brina into a warm hug. “No need to be nervous.” She said while pulling away. Brina smiled shyly and nodded. After, she extended her hand out for me to shake and I shook it, not saying a word and smiling only slightly.
I’m sorry but, I don’t see this working. I mean, she’s out of his league, she’s going to break his heart. I know it, I know she will. Harry can’t handle that, he can’t handle that pain and judging from his facial expression, it’ll be too much pain. I-I can’t like her. She’ll leave and we’ll have to pick up the pieces of Hazza’s heart. My mum doesn’t see this but I do.
Harry sent me a look saying “Be nice.”
“Let’s get some lunch, yeah?” He said. We all nodded and headed to the car.
We all sat inside, Haz and I in the front while mum and Brina were in the back. They were talking about Brina’s life, how she’s still in school and that she wants to study in psychology.
We all arrived to the place and went inside. I sat next to mum while Harry sat next to Brina. He sent her a comforting smile and she smiled back, their hands entwined. I swear, he’s fucking attached to her or something and she doesn’t even have to do anything! I mean, she hits all the standards for a good girlfriend.

So, there shouldn’t really be any reason for me not to like her.
“Brina’s an excellent artist.” Harry gushed, looking at her lovingly. The site made me sick. Brina smiled shyly.
“Oh, really? Well, I’d love to see some pieces.” Mum said before turning to me. “Wouldn’t you, Gem? You haven’t said anything since we got here.” She pondered. I shook my head and offered her a smile.
“I’m fine, just tired.” I said. Maybe I should interrogate Brina? Yeah. “So Brina, how many relationships have you been in?”
“Oh, just one, before Harry.” She admitted. Damn it, she’s telling the truth.
“How long?” I said, facing her. Mum and Harry just looked surprised but I ignored it.
“7 months.” She said, smiling.
“Oh…” Well, I wasn’t expecting that. I thought about my next question before I came up
with the perfect one that could define what type of girl she is. “How many guys have you shagged, then?”
Brina choked on her water as Harry patted her back, appalled. “Gemma! What the hell?” He exclaimed.
“What? It was just a question.” I shrugged.
“Not an appropriate one!” Mum exclaimed.
“Seriously, Gemma? Do you not like Brina or something?” Harry fumed.
“No, I don’t think she’s right for you.” I said, simply.
“What!?” Mum and Harry exclaimed as Brina just sat there awkwardly.
“Haz, shut up, you’re causing a scene.” Brina said, finally speaking up. “Gemma, could I talk
to you? Somewhere else?” She said as I shrugged. Let’s see what she has to say to me. We got up and sat down at an empty table away from Harry and mum.
“So, why don’t you like me?” She asked bluntly.
“Because you’ll break his heart and leave us to pick the pieces up.” I said simply.
“Wha-no?” She said, confused.
“Brina, look. You’re out of his league. You’ll probably get a better offer than my brother and leave him. He can’t handle that pain. He already likes you so much! I don’t want to see my brother go through that.” I explained.
Brina sighed and shook her head, chuckling a bit. “Gemma, believe me, I am not going to hurt him like you think I am. Seriously, he’s not in my league. He’s so much of a better person than me, I know I don’t deserve him but, I at least want to try it out with him. I would never leave him for another guy. If I ever left him, it would be for something bad, something he did. Trust me.” She explained as I listened. I pondered her words for a moment and decided to believe them. She looked sincere, she deserves a chance. I sighed and took her hands in mine.
“I’m sorry, I should give you a chance first.” I said, giving her an apologetic smile.
“It’s all good.” She said, smiling back.
The rest of lunch was nice, filled with laughter and conversation. I apologized to Harry and my mum for how I acted and Brina and I actually got alone quite well.
Brina’s POV:
“You’re staying at your flat for the weekend, right?” I said as we drove.
“Oh, well, I don’t have to if you need me.” Harry said.
“No, Haz, go spend time with your family.” I insisted as he hesitated slightly.
“Alright, alright.” He said.
Niall’s POV:
Lana and I spent the day watching all the Madea movies. I couldn’t stop laughing and so couldn’t Lana. Her laugh was amazing. It was like the most beautiful music I ever heard.
“These are hilarious.” I said to Lana as she smiled and agreed. I kissed her softly and cuddled back into her. Her kisses were amazing. I can’t really compare them to Relli because they’re different in their own ways.
Speaking of, Relli and I went to an abandoned park yesterday. It was honestly a really great day. Yes, there was kissing and all that but it felt like she wanted me. Like, she actually wanted me and only me. It was a nice feeling. To be wanted for you and not just for the sake of company, often how I feel with Lana.
“So Harry’s gonna stay with his family at his flat for the weekend and I was wondering if you’d want to stay for the night? You’d have to sleep in Brina’s and I’s bed, though. Brina’s scared. But it’s big!” She said as a grinned. This is the first time she’s actually, directly, invited me to spend the night.
“I’d love to and that’s fine, love.” I said, kissing her cheek. “We have that dinner tomorrow, by the way. Harry’s mum and Gemma are going to be there.” I informed her. She nodded her head in response and snuggled in deeper into my chest.
——————
“C’mon, Lana! What’s taking so long, love?” I yelled from downstairs.
“Niall, can you help me with my zipper?” She yelled back. I ran up the stairs and into the room. “Here.” She said, turning around and revealing her entire backside to me. I sucked in a breath at the sight of her bare back. The fact that she’s not wearing a bra… Fuck me.
Please, Lana.
“Right-uhh… Okay.” I stuttered, my cheeks tinting in that pink color.
I slowly walked up behind her, trailing my finger tips down her back, creating goosebumps.
“Niall, you feelin’ me up?” Lana said cheekily.
“Wha-no…” I trailed before leaning up to her ear to whisper. “Okay, maybe. But it’s your fault, how am I supposed to go through this whole dinner knowing that you’re not wearing a bra?”
Lana then hid her face from me, obviously blushing.
I kept my face there, my breath fanning her neck as I kissed it gently, feeling around for the zipper. Once I found it, I placed one hand just above her bum while the other zipped the dress up. I moved all her hair to her left side and kissed her neck once more before spinning her around to face me. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her amazing lips, not holding myself back. I kissed her with passion, grazing my tongue at the bottom of her lips for entrance. Once she let me in, I immediately took dominance, exploring her mouth with my tongue, massaging hers from time to time. My hands trailed down to her perfect bum, giving it a gentle squeeze, making her jump and giggle a bit.
She pulled away and I pouted. “Aww, c’mon, we were having fun, princess.” She blushed. How can she look so sexy yet adorable?
“C’mon, Mr. Horany.” She said, rolling her eyes and grabbing my hand, bring me down the stairs with her.
“Horany? Directioner term, much?” I said sarcastically.
“Remember, Brina and I were hard core ones before we met you guys! Then it just got kinda awkward to stalk your boyfriend on Tumblr…” She said, making me laugh. I stopped
her at the foot of the stairs and turned her around, holding her.
“You look absolutely gorgeous, princess.” I said, smiling widely. She did. It’s true.
“Thank you, don’t look too bad yourself.” She winked, adjusting my tie.
Brina and Harry soon came down after. She looked really pretty, too, but no one can compare to Lana, not even Relli.
Lana: (xx#mce_temp_url#x)
Brina: (xxx)
We all met up at the restaurant and waiting for our reservation table to be set up and ready. Liam brought Vienna while Zayn brought Relli and I had to admit, they were looking fit.
Vienna: (xxx)
Relli: (xxx)
I couldn’t compare Lana and Relli because they’re both beautiful in different ways, but I couldn’t stop staring at Relli, her being all lovey-dovey with Zayn. I was a tad jealous but then realized that I have Lana, but then I caught her staring at the same couple, only not the same person.
“You’re table is ready.” The waiter said.
We all followed him to the table and I couldn’t help but notice he was looking at Lana too much. Fuck no, she’s mine, stupid wanker.
We all sat down and lightly chatted, ordering our drinks and such. I was
sitting next to Lana and straight across from Relli, awkward much…
She kept stealing glances at me as I did her but I kept most of my focus on Lana because I didn’t want her to notice. Soon, I felt a heel creep up my leg. I shot daggers to Relli and she
gave me an innocent yet not-so-innocent smile.
“Ey, I’m going to use the loo, right love?” I told Lana and kissed her cheek.
“Kay.” She smiled. I didn’t really need to use the loo, just get out of here before Relli got ideas.
“I’m gonna go, too. Be right back, love.” Relli said to Zayn, giving him a proper kiss and getting up to leave.
We walked silently down to the restrooms and as soon as we got to the hall, I pinned Relli to the wall and stared her down, but gently, not enough to hurt her.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I spat.
“Nothing, just having fun.” She smirked. I glanced down at her lips and noticed how inviting they were. I pressed mine hard to her, battling our tongues and swapping spit. It was messy but it was filled with lust, making it bearable. I broke away soon, though, not wanting to attract attention.
“There, now leave me and Lana alone for our date. We had our’s yesterday and I want to spend time with Lana. I missed her.” I said, as nice as possible as she frowned.
“Do you even care about me? Or do you like Lana and I’m just a pleasure girl?” She asked as I frowned in sympathy. She really was nothing compared to Lana. I like having both of them but I prefer Lana, but I’d still like to be with Relli, just because it’s different. I’m not sure if I need her like Lana but right now, I want her like Lana.
“Relli, not here. I told you a week ago, before we kissed. Now, leave before the suspect things. And I’ll come 5 minutes after. Go.” I released her and she left after she reapplied her lipgloss as I wiped my lips from it. I actually did need to pee.
I went to the bathroom, did my business, washed my hands and went back to Lana, stealing a small kiss before sitting down. I had to control myself as Anne was here so I decided just to hold Lana’s hand. I notice she looked a bit nervous. Wonder what that’s about.
Lana’s POV:
As Niall and Relli left, I smirked. Probably going to relieve some sexual tension. I don’t know if they’re going behind my back or just being awkward with each other but maybe it will come to my benefit. Maybe Zayn will fall for me, instead.
“Oi, Lana, come here for a second.” Zayn smiled, curling his pointer finger at me and motioning me to sit next to him.
“Okay.” I shrugged, coming to sit in Relli’s seat. Zayn came close to me, his cologne trailing to my nose, his scent amazing me.
“What do you think that’s about?” He asked, gesturing to Relli and Niall.
“Probably having sex in a stall or something.” I said bluntly. He looked pained.
“Yeah, I dunno. Are you okay with that?” He asked.
“No but I’ve decided to have fun with it. Watch them squirm around each other. Then get revenge, later. Plus, it’s nice to have someone there, just for the comfort of someone who’ll hold you and kiss you, telling you you’re beautiful when you need it, you know. ” I said, simply.
“I don’t think anything like that’s going on, though…” He trailed sadly. “Maybe they just had to use the loo.” He defended, weakly. It broke my heart, seeing him so sad, so I took his
hands in mine, under the table and smiled at him.
“Zayn, if she can’t see how great of a guy you really are, then she’s not the one for you and she’s totally blind. I swear!” I said quietly, not wanting to rise eyes. He smiled weakly at me and kissed my cheek, longer than most cheek-kisses are supposed to be. He pulled away, but not before whispering “You look beautiful, by the way.” And smiling his million-dollar smile at me. I blushed furiously and thanked him. I know this sounds bad but Zayn makes the butterflies in my stomach increase so much more than Niall with just one touch or a few simple words.
Soon, Relli came back and smiled at me, almost looking apologetic. Mm, I bet those two got it on. Mother fuckers.
I got back to my seat and waited for Niall to return, still in my day-dreams about the kiss and Zayn’s words.
When he returned, he kissed me quickly and sat down, entwining our hands.
I was nervous, why was I nervous? I mean, he’s got this fling with Relli, probably, and Zayn hasn’t even done anything. Ugh, screw this, switch back to confident face.
“You alright, love?” Niall whispered to me. I said yes and looked back to Zayn, who discretely winked at me. Holy shit balls. My insides are now pudding.
Throughout the whole dinner, we got to know Anne and Gemma more. “We” as in Brina, Relli, Vienna, and I.
I couldn’t help but notice that Liam looked protective over Vienna, like a brother. Not exactly a couple but not acquaintances. They’ve gotten closer, always hanging out with each other when we all hung out.
We’ve been hanging out almost everyday now, either something outside or just a movie night. It’s nice, everybody’s close now, comfortable.
I couldn’t help but stare at Vienna, though. She looked hot. She’s so lucky that she can pull off red lipstick, most colored girls can’t do that, but then again she’s not colored. So unfair.
“Vienna, you look so amazing. I was going to say earlier but I forgot.” Brina admitted as everyone, even Harry, agreed.
“Oh, uhm-ha, thank you…” She said shyly, smiling widely at the compliment. Liam smiled at her and stayed in that position for a little bit before giggling and eating his food again.
Those two…
The dinner went on and I could see Niall and Relli glance back and forth at each other, and so could Zayn. Zayn would look at me and I’d catch his eye before resuming to whatever I was previously doing. It was… Ironic. But still never ceased to create butterflies.
Soon, it was time to go and everyone was slowly getting up. We all said our goodbyes to Anne and Gemma as they got into their limo, Harry telling them that he would meet up later.
“Oh my hell, it’s freezing!” Brina exclaimed, rubbing her arms for warmth. Harry chuckled and shook his head, taking his blazer off and giving it to her.
“Here you go, love. If I get a cold, I expect you to take care of me.” He said, smiling like an idiot. That boy is so in love with her.
“You have your mum for that now.” Brina smirked as Harry groaned.
“No, you take care of me, I would prefer that.” He said before shutting her up with a kiss. Damn, why can’t I have that?
I hadn’t known I was shivering until I heard Niall chuckle, feeling instant warmth on my arms. “Should’ve told me you were cold.” He said, placing the blazer on my shoulders.
“Sorry, I didn’t even know I was.” I said back, laughing lightly.
“Stay here with Zayn and Relli, I’m getting the car.”
“Okay.” I watched him run off. Relli was talking to Brina and Vienna and Zayn came up to me. “Hellur.”
“Haha eyyy!” He said back, in that accent Brina likes to use. “I was wondering, Relli’s going to spend some time at a friend’s house so maybe you’d want to do something?” He asked as my heart stopped. Oh, god, is this real life? YES! YES! FUCK YES!
“Uh yeah, sure, that’d be fun.” I responded with my cool.
“Great, I’ll pick you up at 3.” He winked and walked off, getting Relli to leave.
Niall got the car and we left.
Niall looked really good today, to be honest. Like, amazingly hot. His tie brought out his eyes and his hair was just utter perfection.
We got home and into my bedroom and Niall changed. I honestly just stood there, staring. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I quickly turned around and pointed at my zipper, telling him to help me. I couldn’t see it but I could feel his huge grin.
His hands trailed my shoulder before reaching the zip. He lowered his head to my neck, breathing slowly before zipping the dress. He then pressed his lips to my neck, over and over again, making my stomach tighten and my eyes close. I extended my neck, waiting for him to reach my sweet spot. Soon enough, he did, earning a quiet moan from me, smirking into my neck. He then continued on that spot, making a hickey, or a love bite as you Londoners would say. He smoothed the love bite over with his tongue, warm and slick, leaving instant chills the minute the cool air hit. He gripped the two ends of my dress on each side of the zipper, tugging it down as I kept it up. He grunted. “Lana, get this off.” He growled lowly, making me smirk. I turned around and eyed his plain grey tee.
“Take that off.” I said seductively, leaning my lips to his neck and sucking on the vein, earning a deep moan from him. I trailed one hand to the hem of his shirt and kept one gripping the top of my dress. I lifted the shirt up, Niall finishing it off the rest of the way.
“Now this can leave.” He said. His eyes were full of lust and desire. But there was a hint of… Admiration? Before I even finished my thinking, I found that my dress had been ripped away from my hand, dropping at my feet. I stood in front of him with my bare top half in full site. He licked his lips and began to attack my body, landing on the guest bed, kissing and touching everywhere he could, as did I.
I want you to rock me, rock me, rock me, yeah.

Zayn’s POV:
So… Tonight was both sad yet eventful. Relli drooling over Niall as usual but, Lana was, I dunno, intriguing. Like, she makes me feel wanted, probably like how Niall makes Lana feel.
I feel like I want to have something with Lana but… I’m in love with Relli. I’ve realized that for the time staying at her house, I am hopelessly in love with her. I know, stupid, right? After only 2 months? Believe me, I thought it was, too, but still. I can’t help it.
Lana and I are hanging out tomorrow but only as friends. Nothing more. Even though I flirted, it was harmless.
“Here, let me help you.” I said, looking at Relli as she struggled with her dress.
“Thanks. Zayn, can you give me more pain killers, love? My stomach’s sore.” She said with
a smile that should kill.
“Of course. After a month, it still hurts?” I asked.
“Yeah, it sucks. Why did I have to get shot!?” She joked. I chuckled and pulled down the zipper, sucking my breath in at the sight of her laced white bra. Calm yourself, Zayn. Look away.
I quickly went to my room and changed out of my clothes and into sweats.
“Must you not always wear a shirt?” Relli asked, walking into the room in my sweats and
“Fuck You” shirt. Damn, she looks fit.
“It’s comfortable! Just be glad I’m not Harry, he sleeps naked. I wonder if he does with Brina.” I said as she laughed.
“Please, Brina was back hand slap him if he even tried.” She said, rolling her eyes as I agreed. Brina’s aggressive. Very aggressive. Wonder what she’s like in bed. Ha, Harry probably wonders, too.
I climbed into bed after putting Relli’s treatment on and she followed after. I took her chin between my fingers and smiled at her before kissing her beautiful, plump lips. “Goodnight, love.” I whispered, pulling away. Before I snuggled into her, I felt her steal a quick kiss and cuddle into my chest.
This confused me. She barely ever kissed me first when we weren’t in public. Maybe she’s starting to feel the same…
Brina’s POV:
I kissed Harry goodnight as he left my flat. “Remember, call me if anything goes wrong. Or if you have, you know… Those. No more punching mirrors.” He said seriously. I rolled my eyes and kissed him again.
“Goodbye, Harold…” I waved and close the door as he winked and walked away.
I sighed. I can take care of myself. I need to. I’m becoming too dependent on Harry, it’s not good for me, I don’t like it. I’m independent, I’ve been dealing with these dreams for years, I can do it for many more.
I trudged upstairs and changed my clothes. I was bored and it was only 11:00 PM. I decided to watch a movie. I passed the guest room and heard… Moaning. And groaning. And screaming. Once I realized what Lana and Niall were doing, my eyes widened and I raced down the stairs, almost tripping. Oh god, in the same house as me!? You’re fucking kidding me! Ugh, I miss sex, though… Stupid Drew and his promises.
Well, anyways, I know who’s not stepping foot into my room tonight… Looks like I’m on my own.
I popped in “The Messengers”. I love this movie, Kristen Stewart was good in it. And plus, maybe I can scare my other fears and just dream about this, considering it’s not even that scary.
“I’ll be your fucking messenger, you worthless piece of shit.” The brunette toddler said. I was being held over the London Bridge, dangling by a rope that was tying my hands together.
“P-please, let me go.” I whimpered.
“Why should we? We’d be doing you a favor. Everyone’s going to leave you, Brina. First Drew, then Lana, then Harry and soon, you’ll be all alone, only with us to haunt your mind forever and ever.” The toddler with blood red hair said. Their faces were inches away from mine, their eyes turning into black orbs and their smiles twisting up evilly as they planned their torture.
“You have pretty fingers, Brina. I wonder what would happen if they were-“ Snap. I felt a sharp pain course through my pinkie. “Cut off.” The black haired one finished, holding my pinkie between her grey fingers, showing me. I gasped in pain, tears clouding my eyes.
“Please, let me go. Just let me die. Please!” I yelled. The red-head grabbed her bat and swung at my head.
“What did we say about begging!?” She screamed, venom in her voice.
“It’ll make it worse.” I whispered.
“Now look what you got yourself into.” She said before raising her axe and swinging down.
My eyes widened at where she was aiming.
“NO, PLEASE!” I screamed, but it was too late. The axe cut through my hands, making me fall in screaming pain, the blood flowing above my body, making it rain on me from the force of gravity. Soon enough, I was done for.
I took a huge gasp and immediately looked at my hands, sighing of relief when I realized they were still there. I looked at the clock, 8:00 AM. Fuck.
I realized my phone was still at it’s full battery and I received a text from Drew. I turned off the TV and sat up properly, not able to sleep any longer. I looked at the text.
“Hey, B! So, wanna hang out? I know it’s early and you’re not even up yet but do you wanna hang out today? Text back broskiskiskiskiskiski.”
“Yeah, I actually am up. Surprisingly! But yeah, come to my flat and we’ll figure our way from there.” I texted back. I need to get out or God knows, I’ll punch another damn mirror.
“Alright, address??(:”
I texted him the address and decided to get dressed. I went to my room cautiously and was more than relieved to know that Niall and Lana didn’t sleep in our bed. I got ready and heard a knock on the door.
I was dressed in this: (XXX)
I opened the door and saw Drew.
“Drewski!” I yelled, hugging him tightly.
“Bri…ski? Haha sorry, that’s a new one.” He chuckled as he wrapped his arms tighter. I released and smiled at him. “So wanna go somewhere?” He asked me.
“Love to. Take me anywhere.” I said as he grinned wickedly and grabbed my hand, dragging me to his car. I sent Lana a text saying I’ll be hanging out with Drew for a bit.
—————-
“You seem tense so, I’m taking you to a boxing place.” He said. Bless him, he read my mind!
“Oh Drew, you know me too well.” I said sighing.
We got to the place and he immediately gave me some basketball shorts. I changed and met him in the ring. “Alright, Brina. Do you need a lesson or do you know what to do?” He asked cheekily.
“Drew, I took Tae Kwon Do for 7 years to deal with my ‘anger issues’. What do you fucking think?” I said irritated, just wanting to punch something.
“Alright, alright, come on.” He gestured towards the pads. In one smirk and right hook, I landed a hard punch on his right pad across from me, making him stumble back. “Well dayum, I forgot how hard you punch.” He muttered, making me laugh. I continued to punch, harder and harder each time. Picturing the three girls, picturing my flaws, picturing everything that’s gone wrong in my life, taking everything out of my system for the time being and just lashing out through my fists.
“Woah, woah, slow down! I think we’re good.” Drew said, slowing me down to a complete stop. I agreed.
“Thanks for this.” I said, taking off the gloves and giving them to him.
“Anytime, love.” He said in a, supposed to be, British accent.
“Yeah, living in London didn’t help you with the accent. At all.” I said before running into the changing rooms and changing. It was now 11:00 AM, considering the boxing place was a little far. “Lunch?” I asked him.
“Hell yes, I’m hungry as a mother fucker on weed.” He said.
“You still remember that!” I exclaimed.
“Duh, you only said it all the time.” He rolled his eyes. “By the way, you still don’t smoke, right?” He asked.
“I still do a little weed here and there. Not a lot though, I promise.” I smiled as he chuckled in approval.
We went to a little cafe that reminded me of the one I work in. Nice and homey. Good food, too. Well, the sandwiches at least. I still eat small and healthy, refusing to get fat.
We caught up and hang out, just like old times. I avoided paparazzi at the most, only walking in unique, quirky shops and not big ones. It was now 7:00 PM and I couldn’t believe it.
“Shit, we just hang out the whole day!” I said.
“Haha yeah, we did. Like old times.” He smiled. I smiled back.
“I should probably get going.” I said sadly.
“No, I mean, I wanna take you to one more place.” He said with hope. I nodded and he took me in his car.
30 minutes later, we were in a karaoke bar. “Drew, really?” I said.
“Yes. C’mon, might as well just live while we’re young. I mean, we are young, right?” He said.
“Alright, lucky for you, I take my fake I.D everywhere, keeping it in ma phone case.” I winked as he pumped his hand saying “YES!”
We got in and Drew automatically wrote down on a piece of paper. “What’d you write down?” I asked.
“You’ll see. Let’s get a drink.” He said. We ordered 10 shots, 5 for each, downing them in a race, but I won, obviously.
“Up next, Brina Shanti singing “Funhouse” by P!nk!” The announcer said. I gaped.
“What!? No… DREW!?” I exclaimed.
“Go, c’mon, you’re amazing! Go!” He urged as I groaned. I got up to the stage and the music began to play. I wouldn’t have been so willing to do this but I have alcohol in my system so why not?
I dance around this empty house
Tear us down, throw you out
Screaming down the halls
Spinning all around and now we fall
Pictures framing up the past
Your taunting smirk behind the glass
This museum full of ash
Once a tickle, now a rash
This used to be a Funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down, down, down
I’m gonna burn it down
9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, fun
Echoes knocking on locked doors
All the laughter from before
I’d rather live out on the street
Than in this haunted memory
I’ve called the movers, called the maids
We’ll try to exorcise this place
Drag my mattress to the yard
Crumble, tumble house of cards
This used to be a Funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down, down, down
This used to be a Funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down, down, down
I’m gonna burn it down
9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, fun
I’m crawling through the doggy door
My key don’t fit my life no more
I’ll change the drapes, I’ll break the plates
I’ll find a new place, burn this fucker down
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do, da, da, da, da
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
(9, 8)
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
(7, 6)
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
(5, 4, 3)
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do
(2, 1)
This used to be a Funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down, down, down
This used to be a Funhouse
But now it’s full of evil clowns
It’s time to start the countdown
I’m gonna burn it down, down, down
I’m gonna burn it down
The crowd was cheering like mad, making the house loud and filled will happiness.
“Encore! Encore! Encore!” The crowd began to shout.
“No, sorry guys! I gotta go home! I’m tiiiiiiiired!” I said, stepping off the stage and running to Drew. I pressed my lips on his cheek and hugged him tightly.
“Thank you for everything! You’re theeee bestest.” I said.
“Anything for you. Time to go home! I got a taxi waiting.” He said, taking my hand and pulling me forward.
“Hehe okay.”
We went inside the taxi and I leaned on Drew’s shoulder, feeling tired. Soon, I was blacked out.
“Brina, wake up.” I heard Drew whisper.
I stirred awake and smiled at him.
“Thanks, Drew. I’ll be fine from here.” I said but he insisted on walking me to my door. Once he did, I rung the doorbell and waited. Before I could stop myself, I kissed the corner of his lips and giggled, turning around to meet a very angry Harry. I quickly said goodbye to Drew and stepped inside, hearing the door slam
“What was that all about!?” Harry exclaimed in anger.
“Am I not allowed to spend time with my best friend that I’ve missed?” I retorted as he rolled his eyes.
“Ha, please, Brina! He’s your ex! I saw you kiss him!” He said, getting close to me, his face only inches away and our chests touching.
“I kissed him on the corner of his mouth, not an actual kiss, F-Y-fucking-I!” I said. Harry leaned closer, our noses touching.
“Have you been drinking?” He asked tensely and darkly.
“A few shots. Big deal.” I said simply as his nostrils flared.
“You’re under-age!” He exclaimed.
“That’s bullshit! I’m turning 18 in a couple months! Big deal!” yelled.
“That’s not the point! You’re not in your right mind! What if you got too drunk and fucked him?” He yelled, pushing my back to the wall now, his arms on each side of my head, blocking an escape.
“Like how you fucked that slut when we were still dating? No, I actually have a fucking brain.” I said calmly as he banged the wall, making me flinch a bit before regaining my original composure.
“That’s different!” He yelled.
“Oh, Harry, shut up, will you! I didn’t cheat on you! I’m not going to! Not drop it! I’m allowed to hang out with my friends, you know!” I said, pushing his chest with all my force, making him stumble back, enough for me to escape and run to my room, Harry hot on my heels. I slammed my door and locked it, not giving him a chance to come in.
“Let me in, Brina! We need to talk!” He said, banging the door.
“Fuck no!” I yelled back. I changed into my PJs and snuggled in my bed, still hearing Harry bang on the door.
Soon, the banging stopped. About 5 minutes later, the door handle jiggled and Harry strolled in, looking stressed and nervous. He stopped at the foot of my bed and moved his hands a bit.
“Look, I-I’m sorry. I just don’t like him.” He said, shaking his curls.
“Well, I didn’t ask for your approval.” I said, not looking at him.
“Brina, please, I don’t want to lose you. Especially not to him.” He admitted as I looked at him quizzically.
“You’re not going to. Well, maybe, if you keep flipping a bitch every time I hang out with a guy.” I laughed a bit. His shoulders relaxed when he heard me laugh.
“So, am I forgiven? Cause, I’d love that.” He said cheekily and almost begging.
“Yes, fucking idiot.” I sighed, taking his hand and kissing it.
“I dropped mum and Gemma off at the airport. They really like you.” He said, his eyes
having a certain green-ness in them.
“I like them.” I admitted. He smiled widely, flashing those perfect teeth. “Sleep. I’m tired.” I demanded, chuckling a bit.
“Love to.” He plopped on my bed and snuggled me close to him, getting under the covers.
“Why were you here?” I asked. He blushed a bit.
“Lana told me that you were with Drew and I thought I’d wait until you got home…” He admitted as I kissed his nose. My gaze fell on his lips. I brought my index finger to them, tracing them, my finger pad feeling the softness of his pink lips.
“Your lips remind me of a heart.” I said, my trance on them as he laughed loudly, only to cover his mouth. I uncovered his mouth and he smiled widely.
“Never heard that before.”
“It’s true!” I said, grasping his face and kissing him one more time before ducking my head and closing my eyes. Harry shut off the lamp and whispered goodnight.
I was in a torture chamber. Body parts and bloody skeletons scattered everywhere, only being illuminated by the sunlight through the cracks of the wood.
I was on a table, strapped down, my mouth also. My eyes met black ones, the beautiful dark toddlers staring at me in amusement. “Finally, a way to shut that mouth of yours.” The red-head said.
“Now we can go nice and slow, not being rushed into killing your pathetic self.” The black-haired one said. Their skin was cracked and splattered with a maroon liquid, their weapons clean, though.
The table was now at a slight angle, so I could see my naked body, my parts being covered by the large leather bindings to hold me down.
“Where should we start…?” The brunette asked. “I know.” She said, smiling wickedly. She grabbed her knife, taking the edge of it and lining it up to my right ankle. Soon, she started to scrape the skin off, making my muffled screeches of pain unnoticeable. The pain was horrid, making my whole body shake. The scrape was from my ankle to the top of my thigh. “Not done yet.” She soon grabbed an alcoholic bottle of Whiskey, spilling the whole bottle on the long wound, making the pain increase a hundred times more.
“Please, don’t! Stop!” I attempted to scream but nothing came out. My voice felt like it was gone, hoarse, almost.
She then took the bottle and smashed in against my stomach, making the pieces of glass dig deep into the flash, my leg and stomach now burning like white hot fire.
The black-haired then smirked. “More scars to add to the collection, I see.” She sickly winked. She then grabbed the axe, cutting of my left foot off with one swift movement. The pain was unbearable, making me wish I could just die on the spot. I screamed and cried in pain, wishing I could beg, wishing these girls had a heart.
“Girls, the torches.” She said. Soon, two torches were under my hands, burning them simultaneously. I screamed and screamed but nothing came out, nothing left my lips, not even a muffled sound. I could literally smell my skin being burned off.
“C’mon girls, let’s put her out of this misery.” I heard a husky voice say. I forced my eyes open to be faced with… Harry.
My eyes widened in shock as the pain increased. Harry came up to me, my razor in his hand. His eyes were cold and dark but his smile was wicked yet innocent.
“Goodbye, Baby Girl.” He whispered before swinging the razor at my throat.
I shot up from bed and automatically couldn’t breathe. “Ha-Ha-Harry!” I screamed before feeling the most worst pain in my chest. Almost burning and aching at the same time.
Harry automatically shot up.
“Ca-can’t,” I gasped “breathe…” I choked, coughing madly.
“No! No, Brina, stay with me, stay baby please, stay, hold on!” I heard him say before blacking out completely.
Lana’s POV:
Zayn picked me up at 3 and we went to the park.
I wore this: (xXX)
It was a little chilly but I survived.
We just talked for a bit, being stupid and joking about.
“Lana, can I asked you something?” He said laughing after I pulled down some random kid’s pants that was calling Zayn gay.
“Yeah, sure.” I said, calming myself down from running away.
“I-uhm… Have you ever been in love?” He asked nervously.
“No, too young.” I answered honestly.
“Too young?”
“Yeah like, the relationships I were in were just teenage relationships, puppy love, yeah, but not real love. Why?” I asked curiously. Damn, watch sad news come to my life.
“I-I think I love Relli. Like, in love. But I’m not sure. I mean, I always want to be with her and she makes me feel like I’m flying. Always happy, you know? But I think she doesn’t feel the same. Likes Niall or something…” He admitted, saying his last sentence quietly.
“I know, I have a feeling they like each other,” I started but saw his hurt expression. “But I dunno, maybe I’m wrong. Just a crazy, jealous girlfriend.” I joked, nudging him in the ribs as he laughed.
“Yeah, maybe!” He teased. “Just kidding.”
“But are you sure? I mean, you did think you were in love with Brina for a while…” I trailed, making a point but more like giving hope to myself.
“Yeah, maybe, I dunno.” He said, ending the topic.
The rest of the day wasn’t as awkward as we just went to our old ways. Soon, it was late and Zayn offered for me to join him for a movie at his flat. I accepted and we popped in “Premium Rush”. This movie is sick, Brina and I love it.
Zayn sat close to me and wrapped his arm around me as I leaned into his chest. Movie cuddles, yay.
Half way into the movie, I got a call from Harry. Shit, I didn’t even notice it was 1:30 in the morning!
“Hello?” I answer.
“Lana, come down here. To the London Hospital. Brina-she-she had a heart attack.” I could hear him crying.
“What!?” I yelled. Brina? Heart attack? But she’s healthy?
“I-I-I don’t know. She-she was sleeping then she screamed and she couldn’t breathe so I called the emergency number and they said that she had a heart attack. Please, come here now. I don’t know what’s happening.”
No. I can’t lose Brina. I won’t. She needs to fight.
“I’ll be there.”
